Gillies Gothic字体最初是由William S. Gillies为Bauer'sche Schriftgiesserei而设计。Extra Bold 字重由Letraset Design Studio的Freda Sack设计，Extra Bold Shaded由Letraset的Phillip Kelly设计。应该将夸张的大写字母作为首字母与更为保守的小写字母一起使用，且应将小写字母设置的紧凑一些，需要的话可以重叠，以重现真实的笔迹。
